Viral Marketing talks about how a person can spread ideas, information or promote their products through social media networks. I plan to use viral marketing as part of my genres for remix since I will create an instagram or twitter page that will be used to market helpful tips that will be targeted at aspiring film students at FSU. However the difference between viral marketing and regular marketing is that viral marketing will go "viral" and be a huge hit having many people seeing it. One of the strategies used by marketers to make something go viral is to make sure it appeals to people with a high "social network potential", which refers to people who have a high probability of seeing the advertisement or whatever it maybe. This then is aimed at the target audience of all those who will potentially see it first. Viral marketing is also subtle because while many people might not realize that it is targeted towards them it still is and can warp their views and or promote something different from what the person originally believed or did. For these reasons viral marketing is specifically powerful since it can reach audiences that it would never have by using people with high "social network potential" namely people with many followers to reach a wider audience.
