Chapter 8 of the BBG book talks about writing as a whole. It begins with the first step of a rough draft. The book talks about how it is better to write more in the first draft so later it is easier to come back and edit the bad parts out; in a way it gives the same advice that Shitty first drafts gave, in that we should just write and then come bac and revise it once or twice until we have the desired outcome. The book also talks about how to choose a genre for the paper. The book has ten steps to follow in order to make your composition better. Step ten, I have found is particularly helpful because it advises to come back and revise everything you have written which I feel is a very important part of writing. Recently I have been writing this way, first a shitty draft and then revising it once or twice in order to make it better and more cohesive. The chapter overall gives good advice on how to compose in the correct genre and choosing the one that is best for your own research paper.
