Reflective Piece

One of the things that was most helpful to me that I learned in the class is time management. The course itself did not focus in time management but since there were many due dates it helped me to keep track of what I had to do everyday. I procrastinate a lot but this course showed me that in college I would not be able to keep doing so because everything needs to get done in a timely fashion in order to receive good grades and to keep up with the work as well as not overloading oneself and leaving everything for the last moment.
The course also showed me what college level writing entailed. Typically in high school you can produce a paper that is not high quality but still receive a decent grade and make up for it with tests or classwork. This is not the case in college since most of the grades are homework and more specifically papers. This caused me to put more effort into writing my papers and ensuring they were of the best quality that I could produce.
Overall one of the improvements I could have made was not leaving the work for later at night. A lot of the time I did other things instead of prioritizing my schoolwork and in this case it made me leave it until later at night when I sat down to do it. My blogs could have also been more in depths, but instead they were very surface observations, responses, and comments. This class was a very good introduction to college writing course and will definitely help with future classes in which I will have to do research, because the library session in particular gave a lot of insight into ways one could do research at FSU. More specifically this course even helped me with my other class that I was taking because with it I knew were to look (fsu libraries database) for peer-reviewed articles and other college level sources.
